Once upon a time, way back before the vacation period began, I promised you a series on how to use Angus Johnson’s fantastic Simple Sudoku on the PC as a tool to help you learn how to play sudoku.
Well, it’s a bit rough round the edges, but here is the first fruit of that promise. A short 5 minute video on the basics of the interface for Simple Sudoku – made when I thought YouTube could only take 5 minute videos! Oh well, seems I’m learning a lot all at the same time.
What do you think of this as a medium for learning how to become a sudoku solver? As always, hit me with your comments or just rate the video.
I think I have cracked it! If you want to get involved with this mini-project, just post a picture of sudoku in your own country to flickr. I have created a “Global Sudoku” group that you can all post to….so throw them in, they should show up here.
I’m still trying to work out how to get this linked in so that you can all contribute to this….but I am prevaricating so here’s the first picture of Sudoku from around the globe.
If you have a picture from your own country, why not send them to me at martinp@expertsudokusolver.com and I will include them here. I’ll work on a better way for you to add them in as well.
While this isn’t a new post with a new sudoku technique for you, it is news of some exciting things that we will be doing over the next few posts.
I have contacted Angus Johnson, you may remember I mentioned him in a previous post where I was looking at other pages on the internet. The sharp-eyed among you will have noticed that I have been using Angus’ excellent software Simple Sudoku to produce some of the images to go along with my descriptions.
The great news is that Angus has agreed to allow me to do some new things with Simple Sudoku and you will see the fruits of that labour as the site grows even further. In the meantime, as a hint, go and get a copy of Simple Sudoku to play with if you are on a PC. It’s free.
If you are new to sudoku, or if you have started to get stuck on some of the more difficult puzzles, please head back to the earlier lessons and try to pick up a new sudoku technique or two. There may be a delay to the updates for a short while, as I will be in a remote part of Spain and the internet may not stretch that far! If I have a chance, I will try to find some Spanish Sudoku for you all as I eat my tapas.
As usual, please leave you comments on anything you find useful (or difficult!), we are all here to learn.
When I started the Expert Sudoku Solver site, I promised that I would try to get round to reviewing as many sudoku packages as I could. I confess to being a bit slow on this.
However, it has been pointed out to me that I forgot to put the price on each of the reviews I have done so far. This has now been corrected and you can find the updated reviews in the reviews category on the right.
